Product Introduction

Precision GD&T Antenna Shield Sleeve is the core protective structural component of the wireless communication module of the MWD tool. It is a key component of the MWD tool and does not have independent downhole tool attributes.

MH has worked on such functional downhole tool component, especially MWD components for world leading customers for more than 20 years.

 

Key Technical Challenges

√ Thin-walled, long-circumferential structures are prone to deformation.

Stress release after turning / milling leads to drift in roundness, cylindricity, and end-face shape and position.

√ Datum transfer is difficult (errors accumulate once A/B/C datums are changed).

√ Many groove / window-like features are distributed along the circumference.

Indexing errors, tool deflection, burrs, and minor chipping all directly affect shape and position evaluation.

√ Inspection is difficult.

Without a three-coordinate measuring machine (CCM) system and tooling datum, measurements of "position / profile / end-face shape and position" are unstable.

MH Manufacturing Solution

 

Reduces clamping changes and ensures datum consistency.

MAZAK INTEGREX i-250 / i-200, MIILE700U / OKK HM1250S / FJV-250: Multi-groove uniformly distributed parts are most vulnerable to "indexing error + thermal drift". Five-axis / high-rigidity machine tools are more likely to keep angular consistency within the 0.1mm GD&T requirement.

Key processes for keeping dimensional and positional accuracy within the 0.05–0.10mm range:

○ Swiss Studer S30-1 / S20 (universal grinder)

○ RHU-500 (Swiss universal internal and external cylindrical grinder)

○ MG7340/1 (high-precision surface grinder) / KGS-84WM1 (CNC surface grinder): When drawings show 0.05mm dimensional and positional accuracy, "grinding-level stability" is often required to ensure batch consistency.
